Chambers Latin America 2018

We are pleased to announce that our Telecommunications, Media & Technology (TMT) department has been recognized in Band 2 in the latest rankings published by Chambers Latin America. Furthermore, Javier Etcheverry Boneo has been recognized in Band 3, Daniel Di Paola in the Up and Coming category and Diego Fernández as an Associate to watch.

INTA Committee’s appointments

Several members of the firm have been appointed by the International Trademark Association (INTA) as members of their committees for the 2018-2019 term. In particular Gustavo P. Giay, current chair of the Data Protection Committee, has been re-appointed as a member of that Committee, and Diego Fernández has been re-appointed to the Internet committee. Their appointments are effective beginning January 1, 2018 and will conclude on December 31, 2019.

Cybersecurity

Diego Fernández participated as speaker at the workshop “Cybercrime and Tech Awareness” organized by the Argentine-Dutch Chamber of Commerce, together with the Argentine-German, Argentine-Austrian, Argentine-British, Argentine-Danish and Argentine-Swiss Chambers of Commerce, on September 20, 2017, and gave a presentation in connection with legal implications regarding cybercrimes and cybersecurity.

Sedona Conference Appointment

Mariano Peruzzotti was appointed by the Working Group 6 of The Sedona Conference as chair of the Latin American Business Committee for the period September 2017- September 2019.

INTA Meeting in Cartagena

Gustavo Giay participated in a panel about the “Changing Landscape of Latin America” at the International Trademark Association (INTA) Conference that was held in Cartagena, Colombia on October 2 & 3. As chair of the Data Protection Committee, his dissertation was focused on the protection of private information in the region and how this relates to trademarks in leaking or hacking cases where private information could be related. More than 100 attendees attended this panel.

IBA Annual Meeting

Gustavo Giay attended a meeting with officers of the Technology Law Committee that was developed within the framework of the International Bar Association annual meeting at Sydney, Australia from October 8- 13 . As vice-chair of the User Generated Content Committee, he proposed the issues for discussion at the next annual meeting of the IBA. He also reported on one of the conference sessions about blockchain technology.

Nombramientos en Comités de INTA

Varios profesionales del Estudio han sido nombrados como miembros de los Comités de la International Trademark Association (INTA) para el período 2018-2019. En particular Gustavo P. Giay, actual presidente del Data Protection Committee, fue reelegido como miembro de este Comité, y Diego Fernández fue reelegido como miembro del Comité de Internet. Sus nombramientos serán efectivos desde el 1 de enero de 2018 hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2019.

Ciberseguridad

Diego Fernández participó como orador en el desayuno “Cibercrimen y Conciencia Tecnológica”, organizado por la Cámara de Comercio Argentino-Holandesa, junto a las Cámaras de Comercio Argentino-Alemana, Argentino-Austríaca, Argentino-Británica, Belga-Luxemburguesa, Argentino-Danesa y Suizo-Argentina, el día 20 de septiembre de 2017, y disertó sobre los aspectos legales relacionados con los ciberdelitos y la ciberseguridad.

Nombramiento Conferencia Sedona

Mariano Peruzzotti fue designado por el Grupo de Trabajo 6 de The Sedona Conference como presidente del Comité Latinoamericano por el período Septiembre 2017 a Septiembre 2019.

Reunión de la INTA en Cartagena

Gustavo Giay participó como panelista en la Conferencia de la International Trademark Association (INTA), que, bajo el lema "Cambiando el paisaje en Latinoamérica", se realizó en la ciudad de Cartagena, Colombia, los días 2 y 3 de octubre de 2017. En su condición de presidente del Comité de Protección de Datos Personales de la INTA, su disertación se centró en la protección de datos personales en la región, y su relación con las marcas en casos de filtraciones o hackeos en los que puede haber involucrados datos personales. El panel fue seguido con mucho interés por los más de 100 asistentes a la conferencia.

Reunión Anual de la IBA

Gustavo Giay asistió a la reunión de funcionarios del Comité de Derecho de la Tecnología, que se realizó en el marco de la reunión anual de la International Bar Association, en la ciudad de Sidney, Australia, del 8 al 13 de octubre de 2017. Entre sus tareas como vicepresidente del Comité de Contenidos Creados por Usuarios, se destacan la propuesta de temas a tratar dentro del programa de la próxima reunión anual de la IBA, y su trabajo como reportero de una de las sesiones de la conferencia relacionada con la tecnología blockchain.
