Procedure for Using Geographical Indications Now Simplified
Following the Resolution, establishments located within areas with departmental or provincial GIs will automatically have the right to use such GI.
The Argentine Institute of Viticulture (INV) published Resolution 56/2024 in the Official Gazette on December 3, 2024, facilitating the process for wineries to use Geographical Indications (GI).
Following this resolution, establishments located within areas with departmental or provincial GIs will automatically have the right to use such GI, without needing to go through the application process that Resolution C 19/12 previously required.
This applies to wineries that produce or bottle their products in the same geographical area where the vineyards are located. Thus, the INV reduces bureaucracy and simplifies access to this important benefit for wine producers.
