Jonathan Emanuel Fernández

Jonathan Emanuel Fernández joined Marval O’Farrell Mairal in 2019 and is a Senior Associate in the Intellectual Property Law Department.

He advises domestic and international clients on a broad range of intellectual property matters, with a focus on trademarks and trade dress. His expertise includes IP rights clearance, due diligence, agreements, trademark registration, portfolio management, and opposition proceedings.

Jonathan also works actively on Pro Bono cases, providing advice on Intellectual Property matters. Further, since 2024 he has been a Pro Bono Representative for the Intellectual Property team.

He graduated with honors from the University of Buenos Aires Law School in 2018, earning a Distinction for Academic Merit for ranking in the top 1% of his class. During his time in the university, he participated in university research projects and completed a semester at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Spain on a merit-based academic scholarship.

Jonathan holds a Master’s in Intellectual Property and Innovation from Universidad de San Andrés, a program developed in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Argentine Trademarks and Patent Office.

In addition to his legal practice, Jonathan is active in academia, teaching Intellectual Property at Universidad de San Andrés and Integration Law at University of Buenos Aires.

Jonathan is a registered Intellectual Property Agent and a member of the City of Buenos Aires Bar Association.
