Second Geographical Indication for a Bee Product in Argentina
A recognition of the honey from the northwest of the Province of Cordoba.
The Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries—under the Ministry of Economy—issued Resolution 18/2024, published in the Official Gazette on March 1, 2024, recognizing “HONEY FROM THE MONTE NATIVE CORDOBÉS” in the Province of Cordoba as a Geographical Indication (GI). The request for recognizing, registering, and protecting the GI was filed by Asociación Civil Abierta Consejo de la Indicación Geográfica de Miel de Monte Nativo Cordobés.
The Resolution:
- Grants the certification to use the GI.
- Approves the logotype used to commercialize the products the GI covers.
- Establishes the obligation to use the term “INDICACIÓN GEOGRÁFICA PROTEGIDA” on all the products the GI covers, following Resolution 546/2011 of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.
- Establishes the obligation to use the logotypes in the Resolution to benefit from the refunds provided for GI products, following Decree 1341/2016 of the Ministry of Agroindustry.
The new GI logotype is as follows:

The MONTE NATIVO CORDOBES area covers the Departments of Cruz del Eje, Ischilín, Minas, Pocho, Río Seco, San Alberto, San Javier, Sobremonte, and Tulumba.
