New Program to Strengthen Data Protection

In line with the objectives in the 2022–2026 Strategic Plan, approved through AAIP Resolution 94/2023, the Agency for Access to Public Information (AAIP) has launched a new program aimed at strengthening personal data protection within the federal public administration (APN). This initiative is being implemented by the Data Protection Authority.

The program is structured around three main lines of action:

  • Strengthening data protection mechanisms: The program promotes registering APN agencies as data controllers in the Argentine Registry of Personal Data Databases, publishing privacy policies by each public agency, and creating a network of data protection officers composed of both political and technical representatives. The goal is for this network to be fully consolidated within the APN by the end of the program’s implementation period.
  • Technical assistance and training: This component aims to ensure that APN agencies have up-to-date knowledge of local regulations and international standards on personal data protection. Activities include providing technical advice, offering training courses for public officials, and conducting awareness campaigns on how to handle personal data within the APN.
  • Communication and transparency: The program seeks to foster dialogue between the State, citizens, the private sector, and civil society. This will be achieved through activities to raise awareness of the program, monitoring workshops, and campaigns promoting the right to privacy, including engagement with provincial governments.

The program has a planned implementation period of three years. Progress will be assessed after one and two years, and a final report will be issued when the program is completed.
