Procedure for Customs Physical Checks of Goods Now Eased

The Argentine Tax Authority published Resolution 5586/2024 in the Official Gazette on October 22, 2024, introducing changes to the procedure for the physical verification of goods with an import destination assigned to the red selectivity channel.

The Resolution repeals Resolutions 701 and 799, which allowed business associations and industry federations to participate as observers in the customs physical checks of goods. These Resolutions also granted these entities access to the Malvina Information System (SIM), so they could be notified when relevant cargo was unloaded.

The new regulatory framework eliminates this intervention of the private sector entities since it was unfrequently used, to improve the efficiency of the clearance process and reduce costs for economic operators.
