Humanitarian Wills: A Decision Today with an Impact in the Future

At Marval O’Farrel Mairal, we advise non-profit organizations so that they can actually receive the inheritances different persons leave for them. This is a practice that is becoming more and more frequent.

Humanitarian wills are neither a different type of will nor do they have different requirements than those established in article 2335 and subsequent of the Argentine Civil and Commercial Code, regarding their creation, execution, and available portions. They are wills which aim at leaving an inheritance for non-profit organizations to carry on their humanitarian objectives.

In this sense, on November 17 we held a webinar together with Médecins Sans Frontières on the matter. The goal of the event was to raise awareness regarding the impact that this kind of will can have on non-profit organizations, since this decision creates a source of income that allows organizations to continue their missions. By way of example, at an international level, Médecins Sans Frontières receives 17% of its income from humanitarian wills.
