Deadlines for Paying Imports' Freight and Insurance Modified

On April 30, 2024, the Argentine Central Bank (BCRA) issued Communication “A” 7998. This Communication established—for import of goods operations whose access to the FX Market is deferred 180 calendar days as of their customs entry registration (such as finished automobiles, motorcycles, aircrafts, helicopters, champagne and cider, among others)—that freight and insurance may be paid through the FX Market as from 30 calendar days counting from the customs entry registration of the goods.

For the remaining imports of goods, freights and insurances that are part of the purchase condition agreed with the exporter may be fully paid as of the first date on which the importer has access to the FX, according to the goods covered, as previously regulated.

The Communication became enforceable on Monday, May 6, 2024.
