Advances in the Implementation of Artificial Intelligence in the Judicial System

Through Resolution 111/2024, The Ministry of Justice created the National Comprehensive Program of Artificial Intelligence in Justice, to implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) and increase efficiency, simplify processes, and improve the quality of the justice service.

The Program seeks to promote the necessary actions to use AI to improve responses, administrative and judicial proceedings, and to promote efficiency when implementing AI by making sure its use respects fundamental rights, among others.

The Program has a coordinator, who is responsible for presenting an annual plan of activities which will include:

  • an impact assessment through studies and audits before implementing any AI in any area of the justice system or of the Ministry,
  • AI implementation projects,
  • AI use risk control,
  • meetings with different social actors interested in and involved with accessing, resolving, and teaching administrative and judicial procedures.

The Resolution—which is based on the recommendations adopted by international organizations such as the OECD and UNESCO, to which Argentina adheres—considers that modernizing internal processes and complying with international standards can be carried out through a planned, ethical, and responsible implementation based on AI and other emerging technologies.
