Three New Geographical Indications for Wines in San Juan
They consist of terroirs with distinctive qualities, suitable for producing quality wines in the Calingasta Valley in the Province of San Juan.

The National Institute of Viticulture issued Resolutions 35/2023, 36/2023, and 37/2023, published in the Official Gazette of February 6, 2024, adding three new Geographical Indications (GI) to the list of recognized GIs in Argentina, all of them in the Province of San Juan.
The Department of Calingasta requested the recognition, protection, and registration of the following areas as Argentinian GIs:
- TAMBERÍAS - VALLE DE CALINGASTA, or its synonym, PARAJE TAMBERÍAS - VALLE DE CALINGASTA.
- SOROCAYENSE, or its synonym, PARAJE SOROCAYENSE.
- HILARIO - VALLE DE CALINGASTA, or its synonym, PARAJE HILARIO - VALLE DE CALINGASTA.
The new GIs consist of terroirs with distinctive qualities to produce quality wines, as established by Law 25163, which is the legal framework designating and presenting wines and spirits of vinic origin in Argentina.
The map of the new GIs is available here: TAMBERÍAS, SOROCAYENSE and HILARIO.
