Decree 581/2024 of the Province of Rio Negro, published in the Official Gazette of Rio Negro on June 6, 2024

This Resolution ratifies the coordination and cooperation framework agreement entered into between the Secretariat of Environment and Climate Change and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, which aims to establish collaboration, articulation, assistance, and cooperation links between the parties.

Resolution 2024-802-E-GDERNE-SEE of the State Secretariat of Energy and Environment of Rio Negro, published in the Official Gazette of Rio Negro on June 6, 2024

This Resolution approves the Operating Regulations of the Provincial Council of Mining Environmental Assessment (CoPEAM), created by Law 4738, to enable a citizen participation instance in the process of analysis of the impacts that mining activity could produce in the Province of Rio Negro.

Resolution 15-24 of the General Directorate of Energy and Mining Resources of Salta, published in the Official Gazette of Salta on June 18, 2024

This Resolution  establishes the implementation of the “Mining Royalties” Module of the Mining Information System of Salta (SIMSa), to file the sworn statement and payment receipt of the Mining Royalties established in Law 8229, together with the mandatory use of such application by the producers and/or responsible for the payment of mining royalties, as from the filing of the sworn statement of the second quarter of 2024, whose maturity operates on July 15, 2024, replacing the paper format, except in cases of duly justified reasons.

Resolution 37 Secretariat of Mining and Energy of Salta, published in the Official Gazette of Salta on June 18, 2024

This Resolution updates and fixes the values for daily per diems, that the interested party must pay for the inspections determined by the Mining Procedures Code of Salta (verification of legal obligations).

Law of Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of the Argentine People 27742, published in the Official Gazette on July 8, 2024

This Law includes several reforms in administrative and labor matters, among others, and creates the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI). The RIGI introduces an investment promotion regime that includes the mining sector, and offers certain customs, tax, and regulatory stability benefits, among many others.

Law 27743 on Palliative and Relevant Tax Measures, published in the Official Gazette on July 8, 2024

This Law amends article 22 of the Mining Investment Law 24196, establishing that, in the case of mining projects that had not started the construction corresponding to the exploitation stage before the effective date of this amendment, the provinces adhered to the regime may, before adhering to this article, receive as royalties a percentage that does not exceed 5% of the “mine mouth” value of the extracted mineral. The percentage of 3% has not been modified for projects that have already started the construction corresponding to the exploitation stage.

Law XI 84, published in the Official Gazette of Chubut on July 11, 2024

This Law creates the Board of Coordination for Climate Change to study and analyze the problems derived from the processes of climate change that affect the territory of the Province of Chubut, and make proposals based on evidence and with scientific support.

General Resolution  15/2024 of the Public Registry of Commerce, published in the Official Gazette of the Nation on July 16, 2024

This Resolution approves the Rules of the Public Registry of Commerce of the City of Buenos Aires, which will enter into force on November 1, 2024, and replace General Resolution IGJ 7/2015 and the general resolutions issued after that one in exercise of the functions and powers resulting from Law N19550.

Resolution 15 of the Mendoza Mining Department, published in the Official Gazette of Mendoza on July 24, 2024

This Resolution approves the provisions of Decree 820/2006 regarding the evaluation procedure of the Environmental Impact Report of the mining activity for third category mining projects, and first and second category mineral prospecting and exploration projects, according to the classification of the Argentine Mining Code.

The National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec) reported that Argentina's lithium extraction grew by 49.7% in the first four months of the year compared to the same period of 2023.

The Canadian mining company McEwen Copper will disburse USD 70 million in the Argentine copper project Los Azules in San Juan; one of the most important projects expected to be developed in Argentina.

“The first mine to produce lithium in Salta was opened,” published in Salta Comparativa on July 3, 2024

The Centenario Ratones de Eramine lithium production industrial complex in the Salta puna is already operative. It is the first lithium mine in Salta to start its productive phase, and the fourth in Argentina. The inauguration was headed by Governor Gustavo Saenz, together with the authorities of Eramine, Tsignshan (TBC), and Eramet.

BHP and Lundin Mining will form a joint venture for the Filo del Sol copper-gold-silver project and the Josemaria copper-gold project (currently 100% owned by Lundin Mining and located in the Province of San Juan, in the same region as Filo del Sol), enabling the joint development of the Vicuna District. “Each company will own a 50% interest in the exploitation,” said in a statement Filo del Sol, acquired by the joint venture of BHP and Lundin for CAD 4.5 billion (around USD 3.25 billion.)
