Creation of New Extension for Online Gambling- Related Domains

The National Directorate of Internet Domain Registration accepted the Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos of the Province of Buenos Aires’s (the “Institute”) request on the need to create a special extension for the registry of domain names owned by online gambling operators. The request is related with the Institute´s call for seven (7) licenses destined to the development of online gambling activity within the Province of Buenos Aires. To date, even though the applications for these licenses have been submitted, the assignment is pending the Institute´s resolution.

Consequently, for the authorization of the new domain extension “.bet.ar”, special attention was given to the fact that the new extension could help to: (i) promote the credibility and identification of the websites associated with the registered extension, and (ii) guarantee the certainty and legality of the activity.

The requirements for registration are that the registrant has to inform their Tax Identity number which must be registered in the Online Game Operator Records corresponding to jurisdiction.

Additionally, Resolution No. 42/2019 established the rate to be received for the registration of this new domain extension.
