Baltasar Olaf Sily

Baltasar Sily joined Marval O’Farrell Mairal in 2022 as a member of the Trademarks, Technology, and Intellectual Property area. His professional practice there focuses on IP litigation with a primary focus on trademarks and industrial designs, IP enforcement and anticounterfeiting, out-of-court claims, and legal advice to clients on copyright matters.

Baltasar also provides strategic advice on brand protection programs, helping clients detect and prevent the commercialization of counterfeit goods in the local market. As part of his enforcement practice, he works extensively with the Customs Alert System, handling the registration and renewal of trademarks before Argentine Customs. He also advises on the preparation of affidavits and legal responses in connection with product detentions, coordinates the release or seizure of goods depending on the circumstances of each case, and follows up with Customs officials across Argentina to secure proper enforcement.

Baltasar also regularly conducts training sessions for public authorities—including Customs agents, judges, prosecutors, and law enforcement officers—to help them identify counterfeit products and strengthen their capacity to act against trademark violations.
 

He graduated with honors from the University of Buenos Aires, where he specialized in Criminal Law (2024). He also completed a postgraduate degree in Civil Procedure Law at the same university (2025) and is currently pursuing a diploma in Intellectual Property at Universidad FASTA. Baltasar is a member of the City of Buenos Aires Bar Association.
