Relaunching of the PRO BONO Program

On June 19, Marval, O´Farrell & Mairal relaunched the law firm’s Pro Bono Program. The event took place in the auditorium of our law firm, and more than one hundred associates and future lawyers attended.

Marval, O´Farrell & Mairal has been working on pro bono cases for more than fifteen years and, has recently decided to adapt the program to international standards. Hence it has approved a Pro Bono Work Manual and created a Pro Bono Committee comprised of partners and associates of the firm. The significance of this Manual lies in the organization of pro bono work, and the implementation of clear rules for Associates and Partners of the law firm, regarding the assessment of pro bono hours for the development of the career plan and the professional growth of lawyers.

The Manual fixes certain rules for the acceptance of a pro bono case, such as the supervision of the partner in charge; and the consideration of pro bono hours as billable at the moment of the annual associate’s assessments, and their promotions.
