Trademark and Design Protection
Miguel B O’Farrell gave a presentation on "The New Border Measures for Trademark Protection. Creation of an Alert System through the voluntary registration of trademarks with Customs, in order to facilitate the cooperation of the trademark owners to prevent the importation of counterfeit goods in violation of trademark rights", together with Dr José L Esperón, Chief of Advisors of the Direction General of Customs (“Dirección Nacional de Aduanas”) at the session organized by the Argentine-Austrian Chamber of Commerce together with the Argentine-German, Argentine-British, Belgian-Luxembourger, Argentine-Dutch and Swiss-Argentine Chambers of Commerce, at the premises of the latter on September 15, 2005.
Dr Miguel B O'Farrell also gave a presentation on "The Three Routes to Registration for Design Protection" at the Worldwide Forum on Marks and Designs organized by the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Vancouver, Canada on September 8-9, 2005. In the same panel, Davina Bowman (American Express) and Jane Collins (Syngenta) covered the three routes for trademark registration and Nancy H. Lutz (Collier Shannon) moderated the session.
