Iris V Quadrio, member of the International Trademark Association (INTA)’s Examination Guidelines Subcommittee, presented INTA’s Trademark Examination Guidelines and acted as moderator in a government roundtable on the subject, jointly held by INTA and Instituto Nacional de la Propiedad Industrial (INPI). The Argentine Association of Industrial Property Agents sponsored the event. The meeting was held at INPI’s offices on May 29, 2003 and over 110 attendees, among Trademark Office examiners, trademark attorneys and trademark agents, gathered at INPI’s auditorium for the occasion. The debate covered a wide variety of examination topics, including classification and modification of trademarks, acquired distinctiveness, color marks, descriptive and generic terms, deceptive marks, geographical indications and acceptance of letters of consent by the Trademark Office.
