Marval O’Farrell Mairal advises Sumitomo Chemical Company in the acquisition of Nufarm Limited’s business in Argentina

Marval O’Farrell Mairal advised Sumitomo Chemical Company in the acquisition of Nufarm Limited’s crop protection business in Argentina, Nufarm S.A., as part of its Latin American acquisition which included Brazil, Colombia, and Chile.

The transaction was agreed in September 2019 and successfully closed on April 1, 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns in the involved jurisdictions, requiring coordinated, innovative and collaborative legal efforts to see the deal over the line.

In addition, the transaction includes a two-year supply agreement and a transitional services agreement.

Sumitomo was attracted to Nufarm’s strong distribution network in South America and expects the agreement to provide additional value to shareholders.
