III Training Seminar for Customs
Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal organized the third one-day seminar 2008 for the training of Customs in the detection of counterfeit goods.
The Seminar took place on November 26, 2008 and was attended by over 40 Customs Officers.
Customs Director Ms. Silvina Tirabassi welcomed speakers and attendees at the opening of the session. She highlighted the successful and rewarding results obtained in 2008 through the use of the “System of Alerts” as well as the coordinated efforts of the private and public sectors in the fight against infringers which has triggered off a growing awareness in society as to the dangers and damages caused by IP piracy.
Representatives for Chanel, Cisco, Harley Davidson, Hasbro, Lego, Longchamp, Oakley, Procter and Gamble participated in the seminar. They referred to the companies’ counterfeiting policies and strategies and showed the audience actual ways of identifying counterfeit goods.
The seminar provided trademark owners with another chance to share with Customs Officers as well as with other members of the Federal Police, their practical experience in the use of the “Systems of Alert”.
