Two New Partners

On August 1, 2017, Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal promoted two senior associates to partner: Santiago del Río and Juan Pablo Rothschild. These promotions strengthen two of the firm’s key practice areas: Competition/Antitrust and International Trade & Customs. The new partners already have a wealth of experience and are highly specialized in their respective areas of expertise:

Santiago del Río specializes in competition law, with 12 years’ experience. He has recently handled merger control matters and anticompetitive investigations for companies in the software, oil and gas, textiles, pharmaceuticals, automotive and air transportation sectors. He also represents companies in antitrust investigations, as well as in challenges to decisions before the appellate courts and the Argentine Supreme Court. Santiago was seconded to Spanish law firm Uría Menéndez for a year, where he handled both European Union and Spanish competition matters in the firm's Brussels and Madrid offices. He has a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics for Competition Law from King’s College University, London.

Juan Pablo Rothschild is a customs law expert, with 17 years’ experience. He advises on customs, foreign trade and tax, including administrative and judicial litigation relating to customs valuation, classification and infringements to import and export regimes. Juan Pablo holds an LL.M. in taxation from Boston University, he is a university professor and a member of the Argentine Institute of Customs Studies.
