Marval O’Farrell Mairal’s Public Law Team advised the Consortium consisting of Metrovías and Benito Roggio in the bidding process that awarded a concession to operate the subway of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires during the next twelve (12) years, with a possible additional 3-year extension.

This tender marked one of the most significant projects carried out in Argentina in recent years, as it involved the operation of the Buenos Aires subway, which transports over 300 million passengers per year.

The process began in 2018 and three bids were received: (i) from the Consortium consisting of Metrovías (current operator) and Benito Roggio (a leading construction company); (ii) from the RATP Dev company, part of the group that operates the Paris Metro; and (iii) from the French company Keolis, which operates the Lyon Metro, in partnership with the major local construction player Helport.

After a nearly 3-year process, Subterráneos de Buenos Aires (SBASE), which conducted the tender, officially announced that the new concession had been awarded to Metrovías-Roggio.

Marval O’Farrell Mairal’s team was led by partners Héctor Mairal and Enrique Veramendi, together with senior associates Milagros Ibarzábal and Francisco Sama.
