Arbitration

Fernando Aguilar participated of the first meeting of the Latin American Arbitration Group of the Court of Arbitration of the ICC that was held in Paris, France, on August 25, 2004. Mr. Aguilar had been invited by Mr. Robert Briner, President of the ICC Court of Arbitration, to be one of the founding members of the Group in September 2003.

As a consequence of the invitation received from Mr. Joao Bosco Lee, President of the Brazilian Arbitration Committee, Mr. Aguilar took part in the IV Congress of the Brazilian Arbitration Committee, held in Curitiba on 15-16 September, 2004. The subject of this year’s Congress, in honour of Professor Philippe Fouchard, was “Arbitration and the Courts”. Mr. Aguilar was a member of the panel on “The jurisdictional function of the arbitrator and of the judge”.

Mr. Aguilar also participated in the First ICC Latin American Arbitration Congress, held on September 17, 2004.
