Seminar on “Current Trends in the Regulation of Cyanide and Open Pit Mining”
A seminar on “Current Trends in the Regulation of Cyanide and Open Pit Mining” was delivered on August 11, 2011, in the offices of Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal in the City of Buenos Aires. The seminar was conducted by Jan G. Laitos (Denver University, Colorado, United States of America), with the participation of Luis E. Lucero and Leonardo G. Rodríguez (Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal), and was attended by 100 professionals from different mining companies operating in Argentina and representatives from government and private organizations. In addition, the Secretary of Mining of Argentina, Eng. Jorge Mayoral attended the seminar and inaugurated the event stating the importance of both subjects, and emphasizing that “open pit mining has shown versatility, efficiency and has transferred competitiveness to the market; and cyanide has proved to be extremely efficient in metallurgical terms, cost-effective and highly predictable”.
