Access to the Foreign Exchange Market Made Flexible for Paying Imports of Basic Market Basket Products
The measure aligns with the government’s efforts to make more competitive the prices of these products.

On March 14, 2024, through Communication "A" 7980, the Argentine Central Bank (BCRA) modified the Consolidated Text on Foreign Trade and Exchange, to facilitate payment of import transactions of basic market basket products.
As of this modification, imports of these products may be fully paid after 30 calendar days from their customs registration.
The products covered by the measure include, among others:
- food: meat, fish, cheese, fruits, and vegetables,
- beverages: milk, yogurt, and infusions,
- cereals: wheat, oats, barley, and rye,
- cleaning products: shampoo, soap, insecticides.
This measure applies to the import of goods officialized on or after March 15, 2024.
