Governor José Luis Gioja received, in the Government's House, a recognition awarded to the Province for achieving a Guinness record based on the installation of the world's highest wind generator in Veladero Mine. For the first time San Juan enters into the Guinness Record with a novel creation regarding the installation of the tallest wind generator in all South America. Likewise, it is the first record awarded to Argentina and the second record for South America regarding mining.
The D8.2 is a prototype of 229 tons, located in the Andes, and has a structure of 100.5 meters long which is used to supply energy to Veladero mine, operated by the mining company Barrick.
