Province of San JuanDecree 1246, enacted by the provincial Executive Power on 08/22/2012 (published in the Official Gazette on 08/27/2012)

This Decree stipulates the execution of the environmental audit stipulated in article 15 of Law 26639 (glacier preservation) about the activities developed on glaciers and peri-glacial environment. The Audit will be the responsibility of the Consejo Provincial de Coordinación para la Protección de Glaciares (Provincial Coordination Council for the Protection of Glaciers), which is the enforcement authority of Law 26639 in San Juan. In addition, it establishes that the Audit will be carried out by the Unidad Especial de Auditoría Ambiental (Special Unit of Enviromental Audit) which will be in charge of the execution of studies and tasks related to the fulfillment of the legal regulations.
