Province of San Juan

The Legislative Power of the province has amended article 29 of the Mining Procedures Code (Law 7199). This amendment provides that when the Mining Authority decides to free areas covered by mining rights or to declare a mine vacant, prior to the publication of the decision in the Official Gazette, the Instituto Provincial de Exploraciones y Explotaciones Mineras (the provincial institute for mining exploration and exploitation –IPEEM-) must be notified. The IPEEM will then have a 180 business-day term to express if it will subject the area to research and surveyance.
