Customs and Law Enforcement Training Seminar

On November 30, 2010, Marval, O'Farrell & Mairal organized, for the fourth year running, the “Annual Training Seminar on Detection of Counterfeit Goods" at the Sheraton Libertador Hotel in the City of Buenos Aires.

Customs and Law Enforcement Training Seminar

The aim of the seminar was to provide trademark owners with a good opportunity to meet Customs officers and members of the Armed Forces to share with them valuable information to properly identify genuine goods. There were approximately 100 attendees, including officers from Customs, the Federal and Metropolitan Police, the Naval Forces, Border Patrol, officers from the Judiciary and from Government Agencies and Federal Judge in Criminal Matters of the City of Morón, Province of Buenos Aires, Mr. Juan Pablo Salas.

This year, attendees had the chance to listen to Customs Investigation Director Mr. Guillermo Gonzalez, Customs Head of the Trademark Fraud Division Mr. Julián Carvajal, Federal Police Agent Ms. Clara Mendoza, Metropolitan Police Agent Mr. Federico Marchetti, District Attorney Mr. Norberto Brotto and Federal Judge Mr. Juan Pablo Salas, who participated as speakers and outlined their views and experience in their daily work related to counterfeit goods.

The following trademark owners participated in the Training Seminar: ADIDAS, CHANEL, ELI LILLY, GENERAL MOTORS, GOLA, HARLEY DAVIDSON, HASBRO, HONDA, OAKLEY and PROCTER & GAMBLE.  Gustavo P Giay, Diego Fernández, Marcelo García Sellart and Martín Chajchir gave presentations on how to detect counterfeit goods.
