New Safety Requirements for Products
The Secretariat of Industry and Commerce established the safety and quality requirements that products marketed in Argentina must comply with.
Through Resolution 313/2025, published in the Official Gazette on August 13, 2025, the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce established general technical requirements of quality and safety that all consumer products marketed in Argentina must comply with.
On the one hand, the Resolution identified the products not included in its scope (pharmaceuticals, foodstuffs, live plants and animals, animal by-products, phytosanitary products, aircraft, antiques, and vehicles that consumers ride or in which they travel, operated or not by the consumers). On the other hand, it specified the products subject to special requirements (lighters, sunglasses, toys, children’s bicycles, particleboard derived from wood, and fiberboard derived from wood).
The Resolution also determined that products will have 12 months to comply with the new requirements. During these 12 months, the certificates issued under the previous technical regulations will remain valid, if the corresponding surveillance obligations are fulfilled. Once the 12 months pass, producers will have to implement the necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with the Resolution.
