Brief Summary of News on Patents
January 7, 2010
With the purpose of expediting the prosecution of patent applications, the Argentine Patent Office has adopted a new schedule of extensions for replying to official actions. According to this new system, upon the expiration of the original term given by the Patent Office, further extensions consisting of 3 periods of 30 calendar days each will be automatically granted. The official fees for the extensions used are payable when a reply to the pending action is filed. In such a way, delays are avoided because now it is not necessary to obtain the acceptance of the Patent Office when a further extension is applied for.
