Bioy’s Library Arrives at the National Library
Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal, through a team led by Patricia López Aufranc and Claudia Paluszkiewicz, and with the participation of Luciana Collia y Rodrigo López Lapeña, under the firm’s pro-bono initiative, advised in the implementation and structuring of the purchase and subsequent donation of the Adolfo Bioy Casares and Silvina Ocampo Library, which was abundantly annotated by Borges, to the Mariano Moreno National Library.
A group of benefactors acquired the Library from Adolfo Bioy Casares and Silvina Ocampo’s heirs in order to immediately donate it to the Mariano Moreno National Library. The closing took place on September 19, 2017. It required the coordination between multiple stakeholders, including twelve donors and four sellers. This library has an incalculable cultural and historical value, and contains among its more than 17,000 volumes the first editions of the works of the authors, and copies with personal notes by the authors and by Borges. The director of the National Library, Alberto Manguel, emphasized that it is "the most important private library in Argentina".
This marks an important cultural moment, as it is the last great privately-held library, and it is now a part of public heritage. Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal is proud to have played a small part in the incorporation of a treasure of this magnitude into the Nation’s legacy.

La Biblioteca de Bioy llega a la Biblioteca Nacional
Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal, a través de un equipo liderado por Patricia López Aufranc y Claudia Paluszkiewicz, y con la participación de Luciana Collia y Rodrigo López Lapeña, brindó el apoyo legal, a través de su programa pro bono, para la implementación y estructuración de la compraventa y posterior donación de la Biblioteca de Adolfo Bioy Casares y Silvina Ocampo, con abundante marginalia de Borges, a la Biblioteca Nacional Mariano Moreno.
Un conjunto de benefactores adquirió la biblioteca de los herederos del matrimonio Adolfo Bioy Casares-Silvina Ocampo para su inmediata donación a la Biblioteca Nacional Mariano Moreno. La operación, que se concretó el 19 de septiembre de 2017, requirió la coordinación de una multiplicidad de partes, incluyendo los doce donantes y cuatro vendedores. Esta biblioteca reviste un incalculable valor cultural e histórico y contiene, entre sus más de 17.000 volúmenes, las primeras ediciones de las obras de los autores, y ejemplares anotados por ellos y por Borges. El director de la Biblioteca Nacional Alberto Manguel enfatizó que se trata de “la biblioteca privada más importante de la Argentina”.
Este es un acontecimiento cultural importantísimo, ya que se trata de la última gran biblioteca particular en manos privadas, y pasará íntegra al acervo público. Estamos muy orgullosos de haber contribuido a que un tesoro de esta magnitud ingrese al patrimonio nacional.

El 11 de octubre, se realizó en el Auditorio de Marval, O'Farrell & Mairal, el Tercer Encuentro Anual de Mujeres de Defensa de la Competencia. Este evento se realiza desde 2015 y reúne a abogadas que trabajan en estudios jurídicos, abogadas que trabajan en empresas y funcionarias de la CNDC, para socializar y conversar sobre temas de defensa de la competencia. En esta oportunidad, las oradoras fueron las doctoras Bidart y Viecens, vocales de la CNDC, quienes hablaron sobre los cambios que se están produciendo en la Comisión y en el tratamiento de los expedientes. |

El 28 de septiembre de 2017, Alberto C. Cappagli disertó sobre “El derecho marítimo y la protección del ambiente marino”, en el marco de la “Jornada de Trabajo sobre el Mar”, llevada a cabo en la Cámara de Diputados de la Nación. Alberto C.
