The National Institute of Viticulture (INV) has issued Resolution No C 6/07, published in the Official Gazette of May 18, 2007, in order to regulate the use of the trademark “SINGLE VINEYARD” and its translation into Spanish (viñedo único). It is worth noting that the company Alta Vista S.A., owner of the trademark involved, assigned its use to the INV.

Thus, any wine producer registered with INV wishing to use the trademark “SINGLE VINEYARD” and its translation into Spanish, should notify their decision to such authority by means of a note acknowledging that Alta Vista S.A. is the owner of the trademark. In addition, they must accept the carrying out of any administrative and technical verification.

INV will authorize the use of the trademark only in relation to products containing a Geographical Indication and which have been manufactured according to Law No 25,163 (Law of Registration of Geographical Indications for Wines and Wine Spirits) and its regulations.

Breaches of the provisions of Resolution No C 6/07 will be subject to penalties stated in Law No 14,878 (Law of Wines) and will require the automatic cessation of use of the trademark.
