The "Corralito" opens, the "Corralón" survives

As of the first week of December 2002 the restrictions to the withdrawal of deposits from savings accounts and current accounts, locally known as the "Corralito", will be eliminated. The lifting of the "Corralito" restrictions was provided by Resolution No. 668/2002 of the Ministry of Economy published in the Official Gazette on November 25, 2002. Nevertheless, the "Corralón", as the restrictions of withdrawal of deposits which were rescheduled is locally known, will continue to be effective.
