Canadian mining company Extorre Gold Mines –operator of Cerro Moro project, located 80 km to the southeast of Puerto Deseado in the Province of Santa Cruz– announced that it will begin the prefeasibility study for its gold and silver Project, estimating that it will be ready by the second quarter of 2011, allowing the company’s board of directors to make a decision about the development of the project. The internationally reknown Australian company GR Engineering Services is in charge of making the report. The study will consider a lifespan of 8 years and a 750 tons/day production, which represents an annual production of 133,500 ounces of equivalent gold for the first five years. Extorre´s CEO, Eric Roth, said that “GR Engineering is the perfect company to carry our Cerro Moro’s prefeasibility study and, what is more, it has agreed to execute it in 6 months. The engineering standard required by Extorre will allow the project to go straight into a detailed engineering and construction decision. As Extorre has already submitted an environmental impact report to the provincial authorities, the board is optimistic about being able to make a decision about the commercial development on June 30 next year [2011].”
