Argentine Registry of Data Bases

The Argentine Direction of Personal Data Protection delayed the implementation of the Argentine Registry of Data Bases (please see “Provision of the Argentine Registry of Data Bases” in Marval News # 37, and “Argentine Registry of Data Bases – Reminder” in Marval News # 38).
Disposition No 4/05 of the Argentine Direction of Personal Data Protection extended the implementation of the Registry to August 1, 2005. This registration will be mandatory for all private data files, registries, bases or banks intended to provide information, i.e. those whose use exceeds strictly personal use only and/or are used to assign or transfer personal data (including any information referring to individuals or legal entities), whether the circulation of the relevant report or information is provided for a price or free of charge.
Therefore, private data bases existing prior to the implementation of the Registry shall be registered before January 31, 2006. In addition, those created in the future shall register before their implementation.
