New Extension of the Social, Preventive and Mandatory Isolation for Certain Cities, and Social, Preventive and Mandatory Distancing for the Rest of the Country

On August 16, Decree 677/2020 (the “Decree”) was published in the Official Gazette, extending the term of the “Social, Preventive and Mandatory Isolation” up to and including August 30, 2020 for certain areas of the country, and ordering the “Social, Preventive and Mandatory Distancing” for the rest of the areas.

New Extension of the Social, Preventive and Mandatory Isolation for Certain Cities, and Social, Preventive and Mandatory Distancing for the Rest of the Country

On August 16, Decree 677/2020 (the “Decree”) was published in the Official Gazette, extending the term of the “Social, Preventive and Mandatory Isolation” up to and including August 30, 2020 for certain areas of the country, and ordering the “Social, Preventive and Mandatory Distancing” for the rest of the areas. The Social, Preventive and Mandatory Distancing implies that people can circulate within the city they live, work and carry out their activities if they keep two meters away from each other and comply with the established protocols.

For the entire country, the suspension of on-site classes and at all levels, the prohibition of circulation for those who are a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19, the exemption to attend work for certain people with underlying risks, and the prohibition of entry to the country for non-resident foreigners is extended until August 30.

The Social, Preventive and Mandatory Isolation will rule in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, with the same limitations that have been in force since March 20, 2020 by provision of Decree 297/2020.
