In 2009, provincial exports generated an income of 1,149 million dollars, based mainly on mining products, 17% more than in the year 2008.
"Despite the international economic crisis, San Juan kept on growing, demonstrating that the productive model is effective, based on the effort made by the provincial and the national government", declared Governor José Luis Gioja when last year's results were announced. The Governor also expressed that "export facilities established by the Argentine Federal Revenue Administration (AFIP), such as the Primary Customs Zone and the Delivery Customs, were a useful tool for producers of the province of San Juan to produce and to export at a lower cost".
