Guidelines for the Responsible Use of AI
The Guide offers recommendations for entities to incorporate personal data protection principles into projects implementing AI.

In the context of the National Program of Transparency and Personal Data Protection in the Use of AI, the Data Protection Authority (AAIP), along with the National Directorates for the Protection of Personal Data and for the Evaluation of Transparency Policies, issued a preliminary version of the Guide for Public and Private Entities on Transparency and Protection of Personal Data for Responsible Artificial Intelligence.
The Guide aims to provide recommendations for both public and private entities to incorporate the principles of transparency and personal data protection in technological development projects that implement artificial intelligence systems, to guarantee the effective exercise of citizens' rights.
Regarding its structure, the Guide begins by analyzing the current issues and challenges of AI systems and delves into the principles of transparency and personal data protection. It then divides the life cycle of an AI system into four stages—from design to post-implementation maintenance—and offers recommendations for each stage. Some of the most relevant recommendations include:
- Assessing the impact of the project on data protection from the outset.
- Ensuring traceability and auditability of AI systems.
- Forming interdisciplinary teams to facilitate the solution of technical and ethical challenges associated with AI.
- Promoting explainability of systems and ensuring algorithmic transparency.
- Ensuring the protection of personal data by including security measures in AI systems.
