On June 10, 2020, Executive Decree 529/2020 was published in the Official Gazette, which ordered the extension of the terms for authorized suspensions until the cessation of Social, Preventive and Mandatory Isolation.

Extension of Authorized Suspensions

Through Decree 529/2020, the Argentine Executive establishes that the time limits set forth by sections 220, 221 and 222 of the Labor Contract Law (“LCL”) will not apply to suspensions due to lack of work and force majeure provided by section 223 bis of said law, which may be extended until the cessation of the Authorized Suspensions.

The LCL establishes a maximum of 75 days of suspension per year for reasons of force majeure, and 90 days taking as a whole the suspensions for economic, force majeure and disciplinary reasons.
