Argentine Communications Agency Enables ICT Service Providers to Use 6 GHz Band
The resolution incorporates this technology to operate wireless access systems exclusively indoors both for private users and for companies providing Information and Communications Technology services.

On May 24, 2023, the Argentine Communications Agency (ENACOM) issued Resolution No. 756/2023, declaring the frequency band of the spectrum between 5925 and 7125 MHz (6 GHz band) to be free to use. This frequency band is used by the IEEE 802.11ax standard, known as Wi-Fi 6 and its extension, Wi-Fi 6E. This technology supports higher data transfer rates for more connected devices with less interference and very low latency, compared to previous Wi-Fi technologies.
The resolution declares 6 GHz Band to be for unlicensed and shared use within Argentina and without individual authorization requirements for operating wireless access systems including local area radio networks; for exclusive indoor use, both of private persons and companies providing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services.
Further, it specifies the technical aspects and operating conditions for equipment and systems operating in the 6 GHz Band without individual authorization. The resolution also establishes that equipment models detailed in it must be registered before the Registry of Telecommunication Activities and Materials (RAMATEL).
The resolution also states that providing ICT services using the 6 GHz Band will require owning the license and the registration of the corresponding service, as established in the ICT Services Licensing Regulations.
Finally, the resolution determines that emissions from authorized systems cannot cause interference to authorized stations of an assigned service with primary category, nor claim protection against harmful interference caused by stations of an assigned service with primary category; and that operating these devices is prohibited in vehicles (automobiles, trains, boats, and airplanes, except for aircraft when flying above 10,000 feet).
