Mobile Devices or Other Electronic Platforms for Salary Payments
The Argentine Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security authorized the use of mobile devices and other electronic means for the accreditation of remunerations.

The Argentine Central Bank is promoting new fund transfer mechanisms through mobile payment platforms and in this context the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security issued Resolution 168/2018 (the “Resolution”) on April 6, 2018, authorizing the use of mobile devices and other electronic means for salary payment by the employer.
In order to use this payment method, the employer must always have the express and verifiable authorization of the employee. In addition, consistent with the Resolution 653/2010 and other applicable regulations for the payment of remunerations, this new method of payment does not imply any additional costs for the employee in connection with implementation and maintenance, transactions related to the transfer, salary cash switchovers or consultations regarding balances and account movements.
The Resolution also establishes that:
- The use of this payment method will be voluntary and optional for the employee, who can cease in its use without incurring in any costs;
- If implemented, the mobile communication devices or electronic media to be used enable the accreditation of the employee’s total remuneration in a single transfer; and
- The certificate of payment of funds in favor of the employee will be sufficient evidence of the payment of the remuneration due by the employer, equating the evidence issued by these platforms to a bank transfer certificate.
Finally, the Resolution holds the Secretariat of Labor responsible for issuing complementary, explanatory and application regulations, as well as executing the corresponding agreements to control and supervise this new payment method.
