Marval represented production company Claxson in removing the injunction that had suspended the release of the Menem series
Marval O’Farrell Mairal successfully represented Claxson Argentina in removing the injunction that had suspended the broadcast and release of the Menem series, starring Leonardo Sbaraglia and produced by Claxson Argentina and Yulgok Media, on the Amazon Prime Video platform.
The case, handled before the National Civil Courts, arose from a legal action filed by one of the heirs of Carlos Saúl Menem, who requested the suspension of the release on the grounds that the series could infringe rights of the estate.
However, after reviewing the filings submitted by Claxson Argentina, the Court ruled that such rights do not prima facie form part of the estate and consequently upheld the producer’s request to remove the injunction and allow the series to be released.
Amazon Prime Video has recently released the trailer of Menem, which is scheduled to premiere on July 9, 2025.
The case was handled by an interdisciplinary team from Marval’s Family and Inheritance Law and Intellectual Property departments, working in collaboration with the IP boutique firm Máspero Abogados, in a matter of particular significance for the audiovisual industry.
Marval partners Gustavo P. Giay, Rodrigo F. García, and Martín Vainstein, along with Gabriel Máspero, were involved in the case. The team also included associates Máximo Capón, Martín Cammarata, Lara Gutierrez, and Pablo Farinaccia.
