Gustavo P. Giay attended the meeting of INTA’s Board of Directors and chaired the meeting of the Latin America Global Advisory Council which is formed by the INTA Subcommittee chairs of Latin America. He also moderated a panel session on “Trademark and IP Issues in Latin America: Government Perspective Advanced Level”, in which the head of the Patent and Trademark Offices of Mexico, Peru, Chile and Colombia participated as speakers. Verónica Canese participated as speaker in the panel called “Regional Update 2015: Trends and Hot topics in Latin America” at the INTA meeting held in San Diego, California. Together with speakers from Brazil, Chile and Mexico, she analyzed the latest news in the region regarding trademark use, how legislation involving health and food regulations may affect trademark and copyright rights and also shared the lessons learned from the World Cup in Brazil and what may be expected at the upcoming Olympic Games in 2016 in terms of ambush marketing issues.
