Ley No. 1302/15 passed on 04/27/2015, published in the Official Gazette on 05/07/2015 |
| This law modifies article 17 of Law No. 716-M related to Mining royalties, as it establishes the way by which the funds collected must be distributed as mining royalties designated to the Mining Ministry. It also authorizes the Ministry of Mining to dispose of its existing mining royalties funds. |

| This resolution establishes that subsidy recipients, obtained through the “Special Fund for Mining Development” created by Law No. 7909 (today Law 970-M), regulatory and amendments, have the obligation to attach an accounting certification to their Accountability Reports, modifying Resolution No. 049. |

| “Industrial Mining grows in Neuquen – Aggregates destined to hydrocarbons increased 60% in 2014” published by Diario La Mañana (Province of Neuquen) on 05/08/2015 |
| The Province Directorate of Mining informed that nowadays the sector depends exclusively on the production of industrial and third category minerals, which have grown by 60% last year in the Añelo-Neuquen zone. The Mining Director, Carlos Portilla, noted that the main expectation is that the production of industrial minerals “will continue to grow, hand in hand with the the hydrocarbon sector”. |

| “A new method of extracting lithium from minerals was invented” published by Diario UNO (province of Mendoza) on 05/20/2015 |
|
A new recuperation procedure of lithium from mineral rocks was developed by researchers from UNCuyo. The minerals they used for the development of the procedure were extracted from the mine Las Cuevas, located in San Martin department, northwest of San Luis, and match with the aluminosilicates of lithium: spodumene, lepidolite and Petalite. It is the first time that lithium is obtained from them and by direct method. According to what the researcher from the UNcuyo said, what they have discovered is an alternative to the extraction of lithium: the rock is ground and treated by chemicals so that the metal is retrieved in different salt forms.

| Modifica el artículo 17 de la Ley N° 716-M de regalías mineras en cuanto establece cómo deben distribuirse los fondos recaudados en concepto de regalías mineras asignados al Ministerio de Minería. Asimismo, autoriza al Ministerio de Minería a disponer de sus fondos de regalías mineras existentes. |

La Dirección Provincial de Minería de Neuquén informó que actualmente el sector depende casi exclusivamente de la producción de minerales industriales y de tercera categoría, que crecieron un 60 por ciento el año pasado en la zona del corredor Añelo-Neuquén. El director de Minería, Carlos Portilla, señaló que la principal expectativa es que la producción de minerales industriales “se posicione cada vez con mayor presencia, de la mano del sector hidrocarburífero”. |

| “Inventaron un nuevo método para extraer litio desde minerales”, publicado por el Diario UNO (Provincia de Mendoza) el 20/05/2015 |
|
Un nuevo procedimiento de recuperación de litio de rocas minerales fue desarrollado por investigadores de la UNCuyo. Los minerales con los que ellos trabajaron se extrajeron de la mina Las Cuevas ubicada en el departamento San Martín, al noreste de la provincia de San Luis, y corresponden a la familia de los aluminosilicatos de litio: espodumeno, lepidolita y petalita. Es la primera vez que, a partir de ellos y por un método directo, se obtiene litio. Según detalló el investigador de la UNCuyo, lo que han descubierto es una alternativa de extracción de litio: se muele la roca y, a través de tratamientos químicos, se recupera el metal bajo la forma de diferentes sales.
