ITechLaw Presidential Briefing in Buenos Aires
On March 20, 2015, Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal hosted the International Technology Law Association (ITechLaw) Presidential Briefing. Diego Fernández moderated the breakfast session during which Sajai Singh, President of ITechLaw, talked about current trends in new technologies worldwide, including storing renewable energy, nanomedicine and rules governing robots, as well as the benefits of joining ITechLaw and actively participating in its different working committees. Alejandro Scannapieco, CFO at Globant, was the keynote speaker and he shared his experience and illustrated the attendees in connection with the rapid growth of the company, which moved from a startup structure into a successful IPO on the NYSE in 2014. |

LES Argentina Workshop
On March 9, 2015, Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal sponsored a workshop organized by LES Argentine Chapter entitled: “Update on issues related to the process of registration of technology transfer contracts with the INPI”. The event took place at the firm’s offices in the city of Buenos Aires. Arnaud Michel, President of the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), outlined LESI’s main aims and activities, shared his 30-year experience as a LESI member and invited the attendees to join the Society. Later on, Verónica Canese moderated the breakfast session during which Dr. Aldo Petrone, Director of the Argentine Technology Transfer Office, and Rosana Bardi, Legal Adviser of the Technology Transfer Office, discussed various practical issues related to the registration proceedings of tech transfer and license agreements and informed on the new registration alternatives opened up by Resolution 117/2014. More than 40 attendees then engaged in a lively and interesting Q&A discussion. |

Marques Workshop
Together with Marques, the European Association of Trademark Owners, Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal organized a Workshop on Trademark Coexistence Agreements on March 5, 2015. The workshop was moderated by Sergio M. Ellmann as a Marques Representative. Diego Fernández gave a presentation on the most important issues to be considered when negotiating and drafting coexistence agreements. At the same time, participants were presented with a made-up case for which they had to draft the framework of a possible agreement. The aim of the workshop was to train participants in the skills of negotiating this type of agreements. |

Reunión informativa con el Presidente de ITechLaw
El 20 de marzo de 2015 Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal recibió al Presidente de la International Technology Law Association (ITechLaw) en el marco de una serie de charlas informativas. Diego Fernández moderó la sesión que contó con las palabras de Sajai Singh, Presidente de ITechLaw, y quien se refirió a las tendencias mundiales en materia de tecnología, incluyendo la posibilidad de almacenar energía renovable, nanomedicina y reglas y leyes que regulan el uso de robots, como así también respecto de los beneficios de unirse a ITechLaw y participar de forma activa en sus comités de trabajo. Coloquio LES Argentina
El 9 de marzo de 2015 Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal patrocinó un coloquio organizado por el Capítulo Argentino de LES sobre “Actualidad en cuestiones relacionadas con el trámite de registro de contratos de transferencia de tecnología en el INPI”. El evento se desarrolló en nuestras oficinas en la ciudad de Buenos Aires. Arnaud Michel, Presidente de Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), presentó las actividades y objetivos de LESI, compartió sus 30 años de experiencia como miembro de LESI e invitó a los asistentes a unirse a la asociación. Seguidamente, Verónica Canese moderó el Coloquio en el cual el Dr. Aldo Petrone, Director of la Oficina de Transferencia de Tecnología, y Rosana Bardi, Refrendante Legal de la Oficina de Transferencia de Tecnología en INPI, analizaron diferentes cuestiones prácticas relacionadas con el trámite de registro de contratos de licencia y de transferencia de tecnología y se refirieron a las nuevas alternativas de registro de contratos establecidas por la Resolución 117/2014. Los más de cuarenta asistentes participaron en una activa e interesante sesión de preguntas.

Marques - Taller de Trabajo
Junto con Marques, Asociación Europea de Titulares Marcarios, Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal organizó un Taller de Trabajo sobre Acuerdos de Coexistencia de Marcas el 5 de marzo de 2015, moderado por Sergio M. Ellmann, en su carácter de Representante de Marques. Diego Fernández realizó una presentación sobre los temas más importantes que deben ser considerados al negociar y redactar acuerdos de coexistencia. Al mismo tiempo, los participantes trabajaron sobre un caso ficticio y debieron redactar el marco de un posible acuerdo de coexistencia. El objetivo del taller fue entrenar a los asistentes en la habilidad de negociar este tipo de acuerdos. |
