Federal Plan Against Cyber-Assisted Fraud Now Approved
The Argentine Ministry of Security approved a comprehensive plan to prevent, detect, and respond to fraud committed using digital tools.
Through Resolution 231/2026, published in the Official Gazette on March 16, 2026, the Argentine Ministry of Security approved the Federal Plan to Combat Cyber-Assisted Fraud (2026-2027), a comprehensive strategy designed to strengthen the State's capacity to address the various forms of fraud committed through digital tools and social engineering techniques.
The plan, which the Cybercrime and Cyber Affairs Division will implement, revolves around three pillars: prevention, detection, and response.
Regarding prevention, the plan includes awareness campaigns, educational workshops, the development of specific regulations, coordination with regulatory bodies, and the anticipation of mass fraud schemes.
As for detection, the plan provides for the optimization of reporting channels (such as the 134 hotline), statistical analysis of criminal patterns, the implementation of proactive cyber-assisted fraud detection processes, coordination with other reporting channels, and the training of federal police and security forces.
With regards to the response pillar, the regulation promotes optimizing the complaint management process, coordinating with the financial sector to freeze bank accounts and virtual accounts used illicitly, managing compromise indicators, and collaborating with virtual asset providers and IT companies. It also seeks to strengthen the capabilities of the Cyber Synergy Center of the Federal Police and Security Forces and the referral of complaints to provincial jurisdictions through the ForCIC Program's 24/7 network.
The Resolution invites the provinces and the City of Buenos Aires to adhere to the plan and instructs the relevant areas of the Ministry and security forces to collaborate in its implementation.
