Export Duty Reductions for Mining, Industrial and Agricultural Sectors

By means of Decree PEN 785/2020, published in the Official Gazette on October 2, 2020; and Decrees PEN 789/2020 and 790/2020 published in the Official Gazette on October 5, 2020, the Argentine  Executive enacted a series of economic measures that establish certain temporary reductions on export duties for the exportation of certain goods from different industries.

  • Decree PEN 785/2020:

Within the framework of the public emergency and in accordance with the terms of Section 52 of Law 27.541, the Argentine Executive established new export duty rates applicable to a series of goods from the mining industry by means of Decree PEN 785/2020

The decree determines the rate of export duties at eight percent (8%) for a series of tariff positions until December 31, 2021 among which we find goods such as gold, doré bars, granite and marble. The decree has been in force since October 3, 2020.

 

  • Decree PEN 789/2020:

By means of Decree PEN 789/2020, certain modifications are established regarding the export duties and reimbursements for exports of the manufacturing sector.

Among other measures, the Argentine Executive set export duty rates ranging from zero percent (0%) for certain final industrial final goods and three percent (3%) for certain industrial intermediate goods.

Likewise, it establishes an export duty rate of zero percent (0%) for certain automobiles that comprise incremental exports extra-MERCOSUR based on the last twelve months since the Decree came into force on October 5, 2020.

 

  • Decree PEN 790/2020:

According to Decree PEN 790/2020, a temporary reduction on certain export duty rates was established for a series of soybean products and by-products.

This is a temporary reduction and will be applied from October 2020 until January 2021, at which time export duties will be gradually taxed again at the same rate they were before the decree came in force.

Among the industry's most outstanding products are soybeans and their derivatives, biodiesel and its mixtures, crude and refined soybean oils and soybean hulls. The decree came into force on October 5, 2020.
