Antidumping Proceedings: Denim fabrics

The Ministry of Productive Development (by Resolution No. 528/2021) opened the sunset review on exports from China to Argentina of “denim fabrics (“Denim”) that correspond with the fabrics made exclusively or mainly of cotton with different-colored yarns, including 4-or-fewer-thread twill weaves and distorted twill (sometimes called 4-thread satin), of effect by warp, in which the warp yarns are of one same color and the weft yarns are ecru, whitened, grey fabrics or colored with a clearer tone than the one used in the warp threads of a weight higher than, equal to or lower than 200 grams per square meter.” These goods are classified under Mercosur Customs Tariff Codes (N.C.M) 5208.43.00, 5209.42.10, 5209.42.90, 5210.49.10, 5211.42.10 and 5211.42.90.

The sunset review was opened on account of the expiration of the term of the antidumping measures provided under Resolution No. 434 dated September 6, 2016 and issued by the former Ministry of Production. The Resolution keeps current antidumping measures in force until the sunset review is completed.

The Association of Producers of Denim, Corduroy and similar (“CADECO,” after its Spanish acronym) and the companies SANTANA TEXTIL CHACO S.A., VICUNHA ARGENTINA S.A. and SANTISTA ARGENTINA S.A. requested the opening of the sunset review.

So far, the authorities have determined a dumping margin of 43.71% from China, considering exports to Paraguay as a third market country.
