Catamarca Adheres to the Minimum Information Security Requirements

On September 7, 2021, during the meeting on “Cybercrime and Cybersecurity: toward a more secure cyberspace,” the Secretariat of Modernization and the National Cybersecurity Division entered into an agreement upon which the parties pledged to collaborate and cooperate in information security.

The agreement was executed in the framework of section 10 of the National Cybersecurity Division’s Administrative Decision No. 641/2021, which invites the provinces to adhere to the Decision aiming to increase security standards in the processing of personal data and information assets and to facilitate the creation and execution of preventive security plans (see more information about Administrative Decision No. 641/2021 here).

The Decision applies to Argentine public sector entities and jurisdictions and their suppliers.

Pursuant to the Decision, Argentine public sector entities must implement, among other things, an information security policy, based in the evaluation of risks that may affect them. The policy must be approved by the entity’s highest authorities, notified and communicated to all personnel and third parties, when applicable, and reported to the National Cybersecurity Division once approved.

In addition, government agencies must consider their personnel as a crucial resource for the protection of their assets, implement a policy for the respect of the individual rights of employees, and safeguard their privacy.

Lastly, the Decision states that digital certificates should be used in all of the agency’s websites that are governed by the regulation.
