The Central Bank of the Republic of Argentina has set forth the limits to determine the obligation and frequency for the filing of the report on direct and real estate investments held abroad by Argentine residents, and by non-Argentine residents within Argentina.

  • Another transaction halted by a different court in the Province of Mendoza
    Once again, one of the arguments for the suspension of a transaction, the Multicanal / Cablevision case, was the lack of creation of the National Tribunal for the Defense of Competition even though the Antitrust Law specifically provides that, in the interim, the pre-existing Commission for the Defense of Competition will be in charge of the enforcement of the Antitrust Law.

    Pablo García Morillo and Walter Keiniger gave a presentation on “The Legal Environment in Argentina” at the working breakfast with a trade delegation from New Hampshire, on March 14, 2005.
  • Revalidation patents
    Bill for the Protection of Revalidation Patents, drafted by Miguel O’Farrell, was presented to the Argentine Senate by Senator Liliana T Negre de Alonso, President of the Commission on General Legislation, on March 9, 2005. This Bill is sponsored by several IP organizations such as FICPI and ASIPI. It was also approved by the Colegio de Abogados de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires and by the Asociación Argentina de Agentes de la Propiedad Industrial.
